WHD+A are a design and architectural practice in Melbourne with a primary focus on community and residential architecture.

WHDA (formerly Woollan Hamlett Architects) are a design and architecture practice in Melbourne led by Redmond Hamlett and Douglas Wan with a primary focus on community and residential architecture.

We seek to play our part of the enduring project of contextual modernism; to harness rationalist design rigour in entwining disparate scales of individual and collective needs. We design for meaningful spaces of contemplation and comfort, we design for the public agenda and a culture of social exchange.

To this end we layer design impulses from a range of sources - from site specificity to culture, material texture to programming, economy to spatial strategy, with the aim of guiding a project through a iterative process of collective authorship.

We are experienced in a wide range of projects including educational, community, residential and commercial buildings.

We provide a full range of architectural services for client groups including community engagement processes for community organisations and institutions that are building educational and other community facilities in Victoria.
